Satellite data in potato fields - Potato fields managed from 700 km height

With the successful Launch of the EOPLUG-IN in July the EOPLUG-IN services are now in the next stage: Dr Eva Haas and Dr Sam Barret will bring the satellite data to the potato fields in week 45!

Based on an interdisciplinary expert team from the agrofood and EO sector, the EOPLUG-IN services shall assist the agrofood industry and farmers managing their potato fields from a whole new perspective, more than 700 km above sea level! Earth observation data, including Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellites, will be used to help mitigate a number of challenges, from storage to disease monitoring, increase logistic and trading efficiencies by sending data directly to the agrofood industry and farmers through the EOPLUG-IN services.

In week 45 our colleagues will therefor visit the Dutch partners and together identify the agrofood value chain challenges and how to support their growth targets with EO data. Among others this will be done by following the partners in their everyday work with potatoes in the field.
